The History of...
"The Spoon"

The Original Texas Spoon opened in 1980
and has been a Lubbock tradition for 25 years.
It originally started by serving smoked barbecue
and hosting live music. Some of the bands that
began playing at the "Spoon" were the likes of
Joe Ely, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimmie Dale Gilmore.
The name of the "Spoon"
was changed to the
Texas Cafe' in the early 90's
but the name "The Spoon"
has stuck all the years. The tradition continues with our
home made smoked pit barbecue and great music such as the
Darren Welch Group, Kilfnotes, Elvis T. Busboy,
and the legendary
Sunday night jam
featuring local Lubbock Talent.
